Stuff that proves I'm a nerdlinger.

Really now? The Gyrocaptain?

Tonight, flipping through my channels, I came across this listing:

Cast your mind to The Road Warrior. Who comes immediately to mind?
I know, I know. It's these two guys, right?

It must be, because they're the ones listed first. Last billing goes to this unknown actor, Melvin Something-or-other…

What ever became of him, anyways?

My Category 5 post

Or is it Category 7?
Lore does it again:
…the perfect internet celebrity would be a somewhat slow-witted centaur. In a Darth Vader outfit.

Indy

I went and saw the new Indy Jones picture-show* tonight, and…
…well…
…it wasn't the film I was hoping for, but I suppose it was the film I was expecting.
Too many knowing nods to the audience; too many hat-related gags, like they're trying to work an entire trilogy's worth into one script; too much of Shia Leboeuf**—who [...]

Unpleasant realization

From the front matter of Steven Brust's Firefly fan-fic(ish) novel (found via Scalzi's Whatever):
For people who care about such things, the book was written in emacs on a box running Mandrake Linux, then I used OpenOffice to format it for printing. The final layout for online publication was created with Microsoft Word and [...]

I'm such a slacker

Ok, so here's the second half of the William Gibson Weekend story. Told as a Thursday Thirteen, because that way I can kill two birds with one stone.

That same night, there was a multi-author reading, titled "Encounters", on the Mainstage. Six authors were on the docket, though one couldn't make it.
Quoting from the [...]
